I am really excited about my new find- indiDenim. This company makes custom made jeans for women and men. The reason why I am so excited about this company is they give you so many choices. The back pockets can have flap pockets, plain pockets or cute embroidery - similar to designer jeans. The jeans can be made up to a 40" inseam and waist sizes 44" for women and up to 46" for men. Men can also make their jeans in a carpenter style. A wonderful option for women is being able to create your own capri pants. Imagine a pair of capris that is actually a flattering length! Gladiator Shoes

I am always on the lookout for new shoe trends and especially for ones that fit my big feet. A current shoe trend is gladiator shoes. These were made popular by Hollywood supermodels Elle MacPherson and Kate Moss. These shoes have a warrior-look about them. They might display great metallic hardware, are chunky or are a bit aggressive. Stylist Rachel Zoe says they are best worn with cool summer dresses such as a mini dress, with shorts and a flowy top, or with a blousy sweater or belted cardigan. Tall Tropical Capris

With Summer just around the corner, I am ready to add some fun pairs of pants to my wardrobe. Nothing can make me feel more in the mood for a beach getaway than seeing tropical prints. For tall women, we can get away with wearing bold tropical prints as long as we go with a medium to large print floral. Small floral prints will make you look all out of sync. So, here are a couple of new tropical print capris that have been added to our tall capri pants page at Tall Clothing Mall. On the bottom left is a pair of rayon tall tropical capris. They are loose fitting and are trimmed with subtle hand-sewn sequins and beads for a tall pant you'll love. They come in sizes 6-18 for $58. A Shoe Surprise

This weekend has been one of ups and downs. Friday night I got to escape to the Beaver Creek Colorado Ritz Carlton with 5 of my best friends for our annual "Girls Night Out." We laughed, we cried and were throughly pampered. We came home refreshed and renewed and ready to face any challenges coming our way.
Little did I know what was actually coming my way. While I was on the way to the resort, my husband called and these were his words, " My dad is picking up the kids from soccer and I'm o.k., but I'm on my way to get some stiches." You never want to hear words like that. He had cut his hand with a concrete block cutting saw, but assured me it wasn't too bad and to go ahead with my plans. He received 12 stitches.
I returned home Saturday and his hand seemed to be fine. Sunday morning, while getting dressed for church, my husband realized his hand was a bit swollen and was hurting. To make a very long story short, he ended up with a very bad infection in his hand. He was admitted to the hospital, had surgery on his hand and now we are home. I have now come down with a sore throat and ear ache. It's probably back to the doctor for me tomorrow.
We returned home today to a nice surprise package on my doorstep from BareFoot Tess. They sent me the cutest pair of leopard print flip flops. I love the way they feel on my feet. This is my first pair of animal print shoes and I absolutely love them. Thank you Barefoot Tess, you really made my day!

Diary of a Tall Fashionista: Bermuda shorts- the answer to the shorts shortage

Summer, and all that it entails-- BBQs, pool parties, jogging outdoors, going to the park, or just hanging out in the backyard by the chimnea—is almost here! One of the things I love about summer is the chance to wear light, bright, breezy clothes. While I love sweaters, coats, and have an insane boot fetish, there’s something about putting on a strappy tank top, or a fun flirty dress that lifts my mood. Now if only the ‘something’ that lifts my spirits could lift other things that need it, my collection of push up bras would not be necessary...but I digress. Of all the fun flirty clothes we get to don in the summer, I don’t see very many tall women (or short women for that matter) in shorts. I once read a statistic in a fashion magazine that only 20% of women wear shorts. I know fashion magazines make these “facts” up, but I believe that one! And I’d bet that the percentage of tall women who wear shorts is even lower. So, why don’t we tall gals show off our long legs? Aren’t they are supposed to be the envy of other women? Perhaps other women are experiencing the same phenomenon that I have. In the last ten years a strange thing has happened to my legs. The hamstring muscle that I used to see while checking out my rearview seems to have vanished! Oh, wait- there it is…hiding behind this new found cellulite! (Apparently even tall fashionistas have to work out. Who knew?). Even though I’m tall and the weight has more surfaces on which to fall, it sometimes decides to rest on the back of my thighs…which 3 ½ inch inseam shorts highlight…which is exactly what I don’t want. First off, I am afraid to cross my legs in short shorts for fear that the cellulite will be exposed and the paparazzi will photograph and highlight it in In Touch magazine. Ok, so I’m not Tyra but I still have my pride! Secondly, I make an attempt at modesty (isn’t it a lost art?).

So, while I might not be fit as a fiddle and modesty has gone the way of pop culture princesses’ panties, I refuse to give up shorts! Retailers are getting the hint that not everyone is keen on the itty bitty short trend and have begun offering shorts in a variety of inseams. Many retailers have 3 inch, 5 inch, 7 inch, and 9 inch inseams. And some even offer longer length shorts in inseams ranging from 13 to 18 inches. The latter (Bermuda shorts) are my favorite! I’m all about balancing youth with class… [style tip] no matter how old you get, you should strive for a youthful appearance but avoid “trying to look young.” I know it’s a bit of a conundrum, but the point is to wear the trend (a trend is something that is popular; ladies if no one else is wearing it, you probably shouldn’t be either!) that works for you. In terms of selecting the right longer length Bermuda shorts, consider the fit, material, and length. You can find them in low rise or mid rise, in twill or denim. There are dressy options and sporty options. I like pairing something sporty with a more feminine top for an unexpected look. And the great thing about longer length Bermuda shorts is that rather than exploiting your height, they compliment it. They emphasize your long legs and give them a nice, lean appearance. They cover all the problem areas, while leaving the calf and ankle exposed. If you really want to be daring, you can even throw on some heels for a sexy, fun look. Yes, Bermudas are difficult to pull off…but not for women with long legs. So tall ladies, take advantage of the fact that you have legs for days and let’s ban together to stop the shorts shortage!
